Our
Leaders

Matt & Leah Poorman

Matt and Leah Poorman care deeply about the ministry of the local church and have devoted themselves and their family to help advance the Kingdom of God through the church as best as they can.

Matt was on staff & pastored at The Vineyard Church in Mishawaka for almost 10 years. As a part of that journey, he and a core team of key volunteers launched the Grape Road Campus of The Vineyard Church in July of 2016. It grew exponentially and so did Pastor Matt throughout the 2+ years of his leadership. With that experience, he felt the call from God to plant a church of his own.

Pastor Matt loves his wife & kids (Elijah, Abby, & Eden), is an avid Chicago Bears fan, and likes to go cycling & eat at Chipotle!

Our Vision

Where relationship is at our core

Jesus’ earthly ministry started at age 30 and was characterized by many things, but one thing beyond the rest… RELATIONSHIP! Jesus valued relationship. Its why He started by calling a group of guys to follow Him, to be His inner circle, to be His friends.

Matthew 4:19 -“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

And then they, as a team, went and expanded the Kingdom of God together, developing various relationships as they went and deeper relationship with each other as well.

Matthew 26:20 – When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve.

In the relationally bankrupt social media society in which we live today, our vision is that we go back to the way Jesus started and at our core is a foundation & thread of relationship. We desire to see a WAVE of Kingdom activity like Jesus and the disciples did as we do.

Our Mission

Simply, we are enthusiastic about all ages pursuing, experiencing & having an authentic relationship with Jesus, others, and our community.

1 Chronicles 16:11, “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.”

Hebrews 10:24-25, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Proverbs 3:27, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.”

Our Vision

Relationship With Jesus

With great tenacity, we seek to help people find & maintain a genuine relationship with Jesus as the Savior of their lives. Jesus being and staying in the driver seat of our lives and guiding/directing all we do. We do this through linking & deliberately building into our church family as well as various connection avenues in our weekend services, small groups, and periodic spiritually charged events.

Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Relationship With Others

Every human is designed by God to need others. We are born with an innate need to know and be known…to know others as well as be known by others. We feel the church is one of God’s mechanisms to accomplish that goal and should strive to make it easy to do so, especially in the relationally bankrupt social media society in which we live today. Someone once said, “People don’t look for friendly churches, they look for friends at church.” We think that’s true and it’s why we want every person connected in a small group as well as participating in things like serving in the church, Cornerstone Kids, Cornerstone Students, and church related events/programming.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”

Relationship With Our Community

The role of the local church is to make Jesus Christ famous and so reaching out and doing our best to not just be a great church, but a church for the community is crucial to accomplishing that goal. Jesus himself had that mindset. It says in Mark 10:45…“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” We feel we should follow that model and press into serving the community that comes to the church as well as through local & global outreach.
